Prep:

Under your sod you will need between 4 and 6 inches of topsoil. Have it loosely raked and levelled. Beverley Turf Farms sells Kentucky Blue Grass. Each roll is 2ft wide and 5ft long. 10 Square feet per roll. At Beverley Turf Farms we do not install, but will be happy to provide you with the name and number of a landscaper in your area. It will take about 1-2 hours to lay a skid. When laying sod on a slope sod staples are a good idea, we recommend 2 staples per roll.

Ordering:

When calling to place your order please have the name for the invoice, the best phone number to reach you at, the total square footage required, the address for delivery and your preferred method of payment ready. We accept cash, Visa or MasterCard. Our minimum for delivery when a truck is going that way is 1 skid (700 sqft). To send a truck to most areas we require 6 skids (4200 sqft).

Water!!! You can Never Have Too Much

Sod must be watered within 30 minutes of being laid. Keep it saturated for the first 2 weeks, watering in the morning and again in the evening. This amount of water may attract mushrooms, they will go away.

Mowing your lawn:

Do not cut your grass until the sod has taken root, this will happen between 2 and 4 weeks after installation. To test whether or not it has rooted gently lift a corner. Set your lawn mower high for the first cut and collect trimmings. Sod will grow before being rooted.

Fertilizer:

Sod comes to you fertilized. The time of year to fertilize is in the spring and again in the fall.
